In our work to help children develop and understand their talents during the school year, we offer a variety of classes in Kaleidoscope on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in the afternoons and/or evenings. Our current class schedule includes the following

It is always an honor to be part of another's journey.  Sometimes people take the time to tell us what it means to them to have studied at A Place of Light or to be otherwise helped.  Here are some of their words, both brief and extensive!

We have a Living in Your Heart class where a space is created within which people can learn to trust their hearts and walk with the earth.  A new class is generally started each year and we have sometimes had as many as three classes going on each week.  Here is what some people have said about this experience:

*“Living in the Heart” has helped me grow spiritually and develop intuitive gifts.  I am less of a doubter and better able to trust my feelings and gut instincts rather than intellectually analyzing and dissecting.  My confidence in my abilities has grown tremendously.  For me, this is a more authentic way of living. 

Little did I know I’d be able to do healing energy work!  Finding ways to use the energy work outside of class has become more natural for me.  Recently I had a sacred experience, realizing at the bedside of a dying friend that the energy work I’ve learned could be offered as a gift of comfort to her.   Anne

*My experience has grown.  The women within my class instructed by Susan have opened my heart and mind to the gifts within and how to develop them!  Each class I leave revived and full of energy.  I’ve learned to stay within my heart vs. being in my head.  My life has changed.  Gifts are flourishing, and being a freer spirit with Susan’s help keeps me coming back to learn more each week. 

I’m proud to be here, amazed by the knowledge that I have learned far and the growth of my gifts!  Becky

*My growth has been deeply personal and very real.  I discovered that I do indeed have intuitive understanding.  I have learned to “see” people and life through my heart, not my mind.  Through energy work akin to Reiki, I connected to my fellow voyagers on a deep level.  Instead of analyzing the why’s and how’s, I felt changes within me.  In just a few weeks, I became stronger, more confident, more accepting of others – more of who I am in every way.  To truly understand this class, you need to experience it.  This journey has become an integrated part of my life, one that I will continue as long as the class is held.

*I was not sure what I needed.  I was lost, sad, scared, angry…  One night I was watching A&E and came upon a show that spoke to me.  It talked about A Place of Light.  I looked it up online, called and came.  I found, as soon as I walked in the door, a safe home, a place where I could speak and know I am understood, a place where I could speak about my fears and learn I was not alone.

I began to take a class and found a group of sisters.  Now I live knowing more and understanding more about things I felt.  Now I know I am not the only one out there who hears and sees many things.  I am normal!!  I am found; I am safe.  I continue to learn and understand.  I recommend this class to anyone who is ready to accept themselves and begin healing.         Like any oppressed minority, I had hidden my sensitivities for years.  Plagued by fear and misinformation,
        being intuitive had left me disabled.  A Place of Light helped my life make sense.  My fears were released
        and replaced by understanding and purpose.  Those of us who are spiritually sensitive no longer have to
        walk alone.

The words below were written by a member of our Teen Talk group.  Her parents drive over an hour to bring her to the center and give her much support.  She had made a comment about how much coming to APOL had changed her life and I suggested she write it down.  This is what she had to say:

A Place of Light is a sacred sanctuary to me. Because I live so far away from it, I can only come once a month, but I wish I could come once a week. A Place of Light made me come to conclusions about who I am and what I am. It has given me answers, along with a great mentor. It gave me friends who I can relate to, and who understand what I feel.

A couple of years ago I went through a hard time. During that period I learned that I was intuitive, and since then I have progressed on the intuitive path and learned about what I can do. I have been taught that things aren’t always how we’ve been told they are, and I have built off of that information and I now have a much better understanding of the Earth and the universe around it.

We have done crafts, such as making a medicine pouch that we sewed ourselves. We have also worked on healing and how to tell what someone needs and how to help them. We also learn about the dangers of being open to spirits and how to protect ourselves when practicing those activities.

When you walk in the door of A Place of Light, the first thing you receive is a big hug. The title is right - It is a place of light and good energy. I have always felt safe and peaceful there, a place where I can receive guidance and discover new ideas and beings. There are no silly or stupid questions or ideas there, and I feel like it is another home for me.

A Place of Light has made me everything I am today, and given me incredible opportunities. I can’t stress how important A Place of Light is to me, and if you’re considering coming and visiting, you will be welcomed with open arms. It’s such a beautiful, rare place, and while you’re there every minute is a new adventure. Choosing to come to A Place of Light was one of the most important and most wise decisions I have made in my life. I hope to keep on returning and learning more and more.
