WHAT IS THIS ABOUT, CLEANING THE MIRROR?
|
Do you find yourself jumping to conclusions based on assumptions?
Do you categorize a whole group of beings (one dog bit me, so I must be afraid of all dogs) based on one experience? Does the statement "if you want to understand a watermelon, you must eat a watermelon" make sense to you? (Otherwise it is just what you think which may not match reality at all.) By cleaning the mirror, our perceptions, we are able to see the truth of each situation for what it is without any bias or back story being created by our thoughts. For example, a mixed-race family was approached by a stranger as they were putting groceries in the car. Angrily, he told the boys that they should not expect to be paid. "We don't," they answered. "Our mom doesn't pay us for helping." He had assumed the children were street children looking for a handout and spoke accordingly. He lived in his perceptions of what was happening instead of seeking the truth of that situation. This is not a good practice in life. |

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE CLEAN THE MIRROR?
|
Our perceptions shape how we view people, things, and events.
For example, there is a community that welcomes the coming of flies as they catch them and make delicious fly cakes! Now many of you just thought or perhaps even said out loud, "ewwww!" Your reaction is because of your perception of flies, not because you have ever tasted the fly cake. You have no idea how they taste, just a belief. This is not seeing with a clear mirror. As a clear mirror, you would have no reaction except to experience a sense of curiosity or experience no interest at all. You would only know the truth of fly cakes if you had tasted them. Of course, this practice affects our perceptions in far more important ways than our thoughts on fly cakes. When we learn to see with a clean or clear mirror, all the stereotypes fall away, and we can see each person, situation, and thing in its own truth rather than a generalized expectation. Being able to do this relieves a lot of stress! |

HOW DO WE SEE LIFE AS A CLEAR MIRROR?
WHAT WILL I LEARN IN THIS EVENT?
In this webinar, after we view the short video and share some information about attachments, you will choose one attachment and take a deep dive into its source and why you hold onto it. You will also identify the thought patterns that help you remain "stuck" to this attachment and learn how to change them. You will leave with a plan to change a perception that does not serve you.
