The Sounds She Shares with Us

Imagine yourself paying attention to the multitude of sounds our brothers and sisters share with us every day.
Nearly everyone knows of bird songs, but what about the rhythm of our mother's heartbeat, the messages carried by the wind, and the meaning behind it all. Imagine being able to hear the meanings and know how you energetically interact with these sounds.

The Family She Has Given Us

She has given us many, many brothers and sisters, more than we could possibly count. They too are made of the same “stuff.” Our entire family is equal on the hoop of life.
Our mother and the sun worked together to give us life. The very atoms that make up our bodies and Mother Earth herself were born within the sun. That same sun then provides the warmth for us to live. |

If we missed that opportunity as a child, it is never too late to gain that understanding. TO LEARN ABOUT LIFE The indigenous traditions emphasize that all we need to know we can learn from nature. By understanding the balance and harmony of nature, we can come to understand our own balance. By understanding how her energies affect and help us, we can make wiser decisions. |

What will my days be like while I am learning to know our mother?

Every day, except Sunday, when there is only one, you will be exploring your relationship in a morning and afternoon session.
All of these sessions are interactive and led by people who live by the knowledge they are sharing with you as a way of life. You have much time to process or journal about the experiences you have. You can also, as have past guests, spend time chatting with other guests about what's on your mind. Evenings are spent on fun, community building activities. |

Each room has a private bathroom and air conditioning.

The quality of the rooms and food are why we keep coming back to The Guest House. Each room has its own bathroom, air conditioning, and all necessary linens. The food is beyond compare with vegan, vegetarian, and meat options at every meal. Fruit, tea, and coffee are always available in the dining room.

I'm used to working out and being active, will I be sitting all day?
|
|
With a nearby pond for swimming as well as a spa and gym onsite, you can be sure to keep active. Many of the activities are also held outside, so bring your walking shoes!
However, if you are less active, there are many nooks inside where you can sit in comfortable chairs to read, journal, or chat with other guests. The deck offers comfortable seating to do the same outside! |

Your fee covers everything you need for the retreat except for travel expenses and personal shopping. You truly do not have to worry about any extra costs. Your eleven sessions with the facilitators plus other fun activities, room, meals, admission fees, and supplies are all included.
Once you register, you will receive a detailed email letting you know everything you may want to pack, arrival and departure times, and all the other things you will want to know! We are offering single and double occupancy, but if you are coming with friends and want a triple or quad, please let us know via the contact form below. We also offer the option to commute. And who will be introducing me to our mother?
Darren has been practicing an energetic interaction with our mother for most of his adult life. Besides being a healer, caretaker, teacher, and/or student at A Place of Light since 2009, he is also an avid hiker and rock climber.
Darren says "I'm looking forward to sharing in this experience with you all. Whether this is your first retreat with us, or you are a seasoned veteran, you are sure to grow and gain insight. Helping to guide and facilitate this for you is a true honor." |
Since she first found A Place of Light in 2006, Haley has hosted 3 of our retreats and attended four more. Bringing her wisdom gained by studying with Cherokee and other spiritual elders, Haley is now joining us as a facilitator. A gifted Reiki master and teacher, Haley's energetic connections with our mother are strong.

Patricia's lifelong connection with plants is legendary in our community! Plant medicine, essential oils, and understanding what plants are saying is second nature to her. She has been a student, reader, presenter, and/or caretaker at A Place of Light since 2009.
